(1). What is operating system? Explain simple batch processing, multiprogramming, multitasking and distributed systems.

(2). Explain any three process scheduling algorithms with suitable example.

(3). How is Segmentation different from Paging? Discuss the address translation scheme in segmented paging with the help of a diagram.

(4). Discuss, in detail, about deadlock detection and avoidance method.

(5). Discuss , in detail , about various services of operating system in terms of memory and process management.

(6). What is semaphore ? Define the primitive operations including in semaphore mechanism.Write the algorithm to solve the problem of mutual exclusion using semaphores.

(7).  Write the banker's algorithm and explain how it can be used to avoid deadlock.

(8). Why performance measure and evaluation are needed? Discuss various performance evaluation.

(9). Describe the virtual Memory Implementation through Demand paging.
