                                                      Answers any five questions.

(1). Describe various objectives of Production Planning and control. Explain the functions of routing, scheduling and dispatching.

(2). State the reasons for product design or redesign. Elaborate the Principles of Plant layout.

(3). Name three major techniques of work measurement. Explain any one of them with the help of an example.

(4). Discuss the concept of wage and critically evaluate any two wage incentive plans applicable in industry.

(5). From an operations perspective, how are core competence and distinctive capabilities related to operations strategy.

(6). Discuss the key functions involved in production and operations management.

(7). What do you mean by aggregate planning? Discuss the managerial importance of aggregate plans.

(8). What is selective Inventory Control? What are the Various types of selective Inventory Control technique? Briefly discuss the same.

(9). Indian institute buys 4000 pencils per year at Rs. 2 each. The ordering cost is Rs 10 per order. The inventory carrying cost is 16% per annum. Find - (a)  Economic Order Quality and (b) No. of orders.

(10). Describe briefly the importance, scope and responsibility of Quality Control in production management.

(11). Discuss Preventive maintenance. In what ways preventive maintenance is absolutely necessary in JIT/ Kanban/ Pull manufacturing as opposed to push manufacturing.
